Melanie Lynskey is well-known for portraying interesting, soft-spoken, yet headstrong characters while filming her films. However, the actress had to confront some difficult situations while filming. The star of Yellowjackets revealed the body-shaming she endured while filming Coyote Ugly.
Lynskey played Gloria, Violet's best friend, played by actress Piper Perabo while filming. While filming, the Dont Look Up actress said she received harsh comments from the films' original costume designer, makeup artist, and others.
When people saw me, the costume designer said, "Nobody told me there would be girls like you."
Just the feedback on my physicality, my body, and people doing my makeup, was constantly like, You're not beautiful. Youre not beautiful.
Lynskey later clarified that the person she was referring to in her statements was not the costume designer that was credited in the film. The costume designer who initially worked on Coyote Ugly left for some reason, and a lovely kind woman named Marlene Stewart took over and she was AWESOME, Lynskey tweeted Wednesday afternoon.
The first person was mean, but the person credited was not. My answer was a jumble I had experiences with makeup artists who promised to help my face look better, but that did not happen on Coyote Ugly. The hair and makeup team were amazing and accommodating, and were among the best Ive ever worked with.
Lynskey claimed in January that she just had an issue with a crew member while filming Showtimes Yellowjackets. They were asking me, what do you want to do? She said the producers would love to assist you with this.
Juliette Lewis, the actress' co-star, learned about the incident and wrote a letter to the production on Lynskeys' behalf. I want women to be able to watch [Yellowjackets] and be like, Wow, she looks like me and nobodys saying she's the fat one. That representation is important, according to Lynskey.
