Shang-Chi Star Throws a Shade at WBs Batgirl Disaster ...

The comic book industry is outraged by the recent cancellation of Warner Bros. Discovery's Batgirl, which was nearly finished in preparation for its release in the DC Extended Universe.

Warner Bros. has decided to postpone the film entirely because of the fact that post-production has come to an end. DC's biggest heroes are likely to undergo significant changes, but Batgirl has caused a public catastrophe for the company.

Walter Hamada, the president of DC Films, almost resigned because to his outrage over the decision, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige expressed his sincere sympathies with directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who also directed the MCU's Ms. Marvel. Now, one of Marvel's other major actors has offered a more humorous response, although it's received mixed reactions.

Simu Liu of Shang-Chi on Batgirl Cancelation

Simu Liu, an MCU star, took to Twitter to mock Warner Bros. for abandoning Batgirl's release.

He referred to a hypothetical scenario in which Marvel canceled a Shang-Chi Holiday Special after already filming, and dissing WB for doing exactly what with Batgirl:

"I'm sorry to inform you guys that Disney has decided to cancel the Shang-Chi Holiday Special due to quality control concerns. I had already shot the entire thing, and I even imagined a all-gingerbread Ta Lo. RIP Shang Chi and the Legend of the TEEEN GOLDEN RIIIIINGS."

While some fans laughed out of the joke, others felt it was a bit of a letdown in the wake of all that transpired, and they shared their thoughts on Twitter.

"Really?" You know a lot of people are struggling. You have to make a JOKE of THIS. NOT IT...... and that your film isn't being canceled for now. "This is a shameful film."

"Simu, I love you. However, please delete this, it's not a pleasant situation for the whole creative team behind these projects at Warner. Please apologize immediately."

"It's not cool to joke about this when so many of your industry colleagues' hard work has been thrown out the drain," says the author.

Wilson Cleveland, an actor/producer, supported Liu's claim in the midst of the criticism. He explained that Liu was "dragging...WB's decision," and that the star is likely to agree with many of the people who didn't like his initial tweet:

"People. Simu is dragging the ridiculousness of WB's decision to cancel a $90 million film. He isn't dragging the cast, crew, or supporters. I understand there's legitimate outrage, but you're directing it at someone who most likely agrees with you."

Batgirl's Decision Is Unconfident to Marvel's Biggest Names

Simu Liu is known for joking around with current comic book movie news before joking about Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but the same sentiment he conveys after all of the controversy.

Liu remains passionate about the comic book industry, which has suffered greatly as Batgirl was canceled so suddenly. As he strives to maintain his own role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he also becomes an unofficial spokesperson for the industry at large.

Fans and industry professionals are concerned about what the company's future with the DC universe will be like as the studio's superhero films start from the beginning.
