Avengers 5: Kang Dynasty: 8 upcoming movies & shows that will set up the Marvel Cinematic Universe ...

Marvel Studios presidentKevin Feige steps on stage in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con and displays new logos on a blank projector screen. As simple as that sounds, that graphic of logos will shape the expectations of one of pop culture's biggest and most passionate fanbases. The destination is clear.

"We have our direction," Captain Jack Sparrow once said. With two Phase 4 projects remaining in Phase 4, 12 projects announced in Phase 5, and three of the 11 slots filled for Phase 6, all roads are leading toAvengers: The Kang Dynasty.

With each film and show, there will be a difference in "importance" in the overall MCU narrative leading up to TheKang Dynasty. Some projects will be more essential to the throughline, while Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantamaniais are expected to star Jonathan Majors as Kang.

Here are the top eight most essential movies and shows that will playaroll in the buildup of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, ranked from the least to the most important.

Secret Invasion: 8.

Secret Invasion is the first-ever Disney+ "crossover event." That alone is enough for this series to become one of the most important pieces in the Marvel Comics puzzle. The return of Nick Fury is unquestionable.

Secret Invasion may not affect Avengers 5 directly, but Earth's Mightiest Heroes are currently scattered to the wind, leaving Earth without a concrete team of supers. As he did all the way back in the Infinity Saga, Nick Fury might be the key to assembling the Marvel Cinematic Universe's next supergroup.

Wakanda: Black Panther Forever

Importance can be defined in a number of ways, with virtually every one of them applying to theBlack Panthersequel,Wakanda Forever. Fans will be sharing in that loss and joy of life as a result of the passing of director Ryan Coogler.

Doctor Victor Von Doom, one of the most powerful villains in the Marvel Universe, might appear in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. His role in the nextAvengersfilm,Secret Wars, is all but a lock to be crucial. Doom could retroactively be the REAL big bad of the Multiverse Saga.

Thunderbolts are 6.

With a New Avengers team on the way, there may be a great Phase-ending battle for them.Thunderboltshas been teased and sprinkled throughout Phase 4, with major players like Yelena Belova and John Walker taking turns as villains in this phase 5 crossover event.

Kang is shaping up to be a formidable adversary on his own, but what if he needs lackeys?Thunderboltsshould pave the way for a lower-level threat for the new earth's Mightiest Heroes to face before their mettle is fully tested inAvengers: The Kang Dynasty.

5.The Marvels

Sometimes the characters are more important than the narrative, and when showrunners combine both, magic occurs. The Marvelsis in a position to take theCaptain Americafranchise and give it a boost similar to what it got from 2014'sWinter Soldier. Here's a checklist of things that The Marvelswill be doing that gaveWinter Soldier such a high-ranking spot in the Infinity Saga run:

Captain America: The New World Order

Captain America: New World Order is the focus project for what many anticipate will be one of the franchise's main characters in the future, Sam Wilson's Captain America. "Who are theAvengers?"is one of the main themes of Phase 4. New World Order might be in a fantastic position to answer that question.

Sam Wilson is ready to hit the ground running in his big screen role as a lead man and build a new Earth's Mightiest Heroes team. Cap 4 might serve as anotherAvengers-litemovie with a ton of crossover, while also establishing the new leader of Marvel's main supergroup.

The Fantastic Four

The Kang Dynasty is a top-tier puzzle piece for any story worth its salt. With Fantastic Four still in the works, and the cast yet to be announced, this is probably the least well-known project on the list.

Kang is tied directly to Reed Richards, a descendant of the world's smartest man. Reed will likely not only play a role in identifying the danger that Kang is posing, but also in figuring out a strategy to combat it.

Season 2 of Loki

Loki Season 2 is in a fascinating position. Season 1 has certainly accomplished more than any Phase 4 project in establishing what will ultimately be the Multiverse Saga's final chapter, but Season 2 is in a similar position in Phase 5 as it is being investigated to explain even more about Kang.

Loki is the character who has the hardest time fitting into Earth-616, but that does not mean he isn't set to play a significant role in Season 2. If Kang is running his own TVA, controlling the timing of the episodes, then Loka Season 2 is likely to be one of the most important pieces of the Multiverse Saga's puzzle.

Quantumania, Ant-Man and the Wasp

The most important item on this list is, of course,Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamania. Jonathan Majors will play Kang, giving fans the first glimpse at what He Who Remains was implying in theLoki Season 1finale. This is where Kang will begin to build the Dynasty he holds by the timeAvengers 5rolls around.

The addition of Kang to the Multiverse Saga is a great way to strengthen theAnt-Man franchise and hopefully propel it to the top of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's programming.Ant-Man and The Wasphad received a mixed reception from audiences, although they did introduce the Quantum Realm, which played a key role in the overall plot. This time, the filmmakers will not reveal the solution.
