Donald Trump is the inspiration for a new Star Wars series ...

The Mandalorian and Star Wars are expected to be released on Disney+ in the following months.

It's rare that you hear Star Wars and the orange-tinted former President in the same conversation, but Andor is preparing to alter all of that. According to Fiona Shaw, who plays Maarva in the series, Our world is exploding in different places right now, andpeople's rights are disappearing, andAndorreflects that.

While Star Wars is typically over-focused on the Jedi's affairs, including those of the Skywalker lineage, the Star Wars universe has been branching out in different directions with the various Disney+ shows. While the prequel trilogy touched on some political machinations of the Galactic Senate at the surface level, there havent really been too many Star Wars properties that aimed for a more nuanced portrayal of the politics.

Tony Gilroy enjoys playing politics in the political thriller genre, but this will not be his first venture into the Star Wars universe. He co-wrote the screenplay for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which forms the basis for Andor. Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) was introduced in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and this series will focus on his adventures five years prior to the events of Rogue One. He now has a friend in the Empire.

The Mandalorian will premiere on Disney+ on September 21 with a three-episode premiere. Subsequent episodes will be released weekly until November 23.
