The dismissal of Batgirl by Warner Bros. Discovery has sparked a lot of speculation and rumors, including reports of widespread carnage throughout the DCEU. The CEO said, Were not going to release a film unless we get a quarter of the money?' It appears like Michael Keatons will not be included in the next year's The Flash.
The shocking and shocking decision by Warner Bros. Discovery to cancel Batgirl has sparked plenty of speculation and rumors, including reports of widespread carnage throughout the DCEU. The good news for DC movie enthusiasts is that regardless of what the future of DC movies is, they do have a future.
Zaslav said on Thursday's Warner Bros. Discovery earnings call, the company would create a 10-year plan for DC. It's very similar to the structure that Alan Horn and Bob Iger used to create Disney. He said, We're not going to release a film until we've made a quarter. We're not going to release a film until we've made a quarter.' He also talked about the upcoming DC films, saying, "We're very excited about them."
Batgirl's actions appear to contradict Deadline's reports, which surfaced shortly after the cancellations of both Batgirl and Scoob! According to the outlet, part of the reason for Batgirl's shelving was because she wants DC movies to concentrate more on creating action films such as Marvels Spider-Man: No Way Home and Avengers: Endgame. Those kinds of films are only made possible by years of effort and planning, and apparently Batgirl somehow clashed with those objectives.
The purpose of the 10 year plan for DC Universe films or what it will be like is still a mystery, but at least one name has been brought up recently. If true, Joker would appear to be the DCEU's answer to Marvel's Kevin Feige, but it would seem strange to pick the director who took every opportunity he got to instill no inspiration from the comics in his films.
It appears that whatever the 10 year plan turns out to be and who is involved in it, Batgirl will sadly not be a part of it. There are also indications that beyond his involvement in next years The Flash, Michael Keatons will be replaced by the guy he was supposed to replace: Ben Affleck.
