The Emmy Awards arent just for TV stars. Lady Gaga and Adele are both nominated for the 2022 Emmy Awards, battling off against each other in the Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) category. Both artists have multiple Grammys and an Oscar, meaning if one of them wins the coveted EGOT, someone will have won at least one competitive Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony.
Adele was recognized as an executive producer for Adele: One Night Only, her CBS primetime special to promote her 2021 album 30 that included a star-studded segment and an interview with Oprah Winfrey. One Last Time also received three additional nominations, including Outstanding Music Direction.
Gaga is a four-time Emmy nominee, earning two Outstanding Variety Special nominations in 2011 and 2015, and a nomination for her 2017 Super Bowl Halftime Show Adele Live in New York City, also recorded at Radio City Music Hall.
Adele and Gaga may both lose the Emmy to a different nominee. The closer is a controversial Netflix comedy special that follows Dave Chappelle's controversial HBO documentary The Return Of Harry Potter.
Jennifer Hudson joined the EGOT club on June 13 after winning the Tony for Best Musical as a producer on A Strange Loop, becoming the second Black woman to achieve EGOT status after Whoopi Goldberg and John Legend.
